Dr. Leonard is a Professor of Pediatrics (Nephrology) and of Medicine (Nephrology) at Stanford University. She is the Associate Dean in Maternal and Child Health, Co-Leader in Spectrum Child Health and a member of the Child Health Research Institute Executive Committee. Dr. Leonard’s research focuses on the detrimental effects of glucocorticoids, sarcopenia and inflammation on bone development in pediatric diseases, the long-term effects of childhood cancer on bone and muscle quality, the assessment of renal osteodystrophy using novel micro-imaging techniques, the effects of vitamin D deficiency on physical function and cardiovascular disease, and the evaluation of biomechanical interventions as anabolic bone therapies.
