Nancy Brown has been Chief Executive Officer of the American Heart Association (AHA) since October, 2008. The AHA is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to preventing, treating and defeating cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Under her leadership, the AHA established the first-ever definition of “cardiovascular health” and announced its bold 2020 goal of improving the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent, while reducing deaths from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20 percent. In addition to leading the AHA, Brown is a member of the Boards of Directors of Research!America, the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids and the Truth Initiative. She also serves as a member of the Health Governors Community of the World Economic Forum and is a past chairman of the Board of the National Health Council.
