David Heckerman, MD
Distinguished Scientist at Microsoft

David is a computer scientist and Senior Director of the Genomics Group at Microsoft Corporation. He applies his background as an MD and methods from machine learning, computational biology, statistics, artificial intelligence, and decision analysis to problems in biology and health. David’s recent work has concentrated on genomics and the design of vaccines. David serves as an adjunct professor in the department of computer science at UCLA, and is a fellow of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence and Association for Computing Machinery. He received his BS and MS degrees in physics from UCLA, and his MS in computer science, PhD in medical informatics, and MD from Stanford University. His PhD dissertation received the ACM Doctoral Dissertation award
