His research is focused on determining how the social environment impacts the development of chronic disease, using quantitative methods from epidemiology, economics and demography. He is focused on the question of how income and working conditions impact long-term chronic disease, and on identifying the biological mechanisms underlying these relationships, including processes of DNA methylation.
